faith taught by the Church, the Holy Bible, formation in prayer life and
living a life of grace.

classics in literature include The Call of the Wild, Sounder, and Wonderful
World of Oz, focusing on literary devices and forms, setting,
characterization, etc.

Vocabulary:

Builds
vocabulary through the classical roots

Grammar:

Study
of the parts of speech, mechanics and correct usage; gathering and organizing
information for oral and written reports, writing research reports, writing
persuasive letters and creative writing.

Mathematics:

Present
more complex work with multiplication, division, decimals, fractions, and
geometry. Increased emphasis is placed
on problem-solving and algebraic equations. Individualized Accelerated Math
program.

Science:

Study
of general science including classification, matter, space, human organs and
systems, the earth's crust, electricity,
and the environment.

American History:
|
Study
of the explorers of the New World, early Colonial history, the American
Revolution, growth of the nation, the Civil War, and Reconstruction.

Spanish:

Refine
listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Students study the cultures within the
Spanish-speaking world.

Music:

Participation
in band or choir.

Art:

Using
various mediums the students create works that imitate different periods in
art including Impressionism, Pointillism and Cubism.

Physical Education:

Students
engage in group sports such as soccer, basketball and softball. Development of sport-specific skills and
movement are emphasized.

Technology:

Create
a Word project in newsletter form with pictures. Expand basic functions and
commands for Excel spreadsheets. Demonstrate mastery in organizing
information on an Excel spreadsheet. Create a PowerPoint presentation using
graphics and text.
