Religion:

Formal
and informal instruction includes the study of man's relationship with Jesus
our Savior, the Holy Bible, formation in prayer life and living a life of
grace.

Reading:

Through
approach to teaching reading with the SRA Horizons and Reading Mastery
program emphasizing phonics, vocabulary building, reading comprehension,
spelling and writing.
Children's
classics in literature include Charlotte's Web, Aesop's Fables,
and The Little House in the Big Woods.

Grammar:

Study
of the parts of speech; compositions and book reports; mechanics and correct
usage of English.

Mathematics:
|
Present
more complex work with multiplication, division, decimals, fractions, and
geometry. Individualized Accelerated
Math program.

Science:
|
Study
of general science including plants, light, sound, the solar system, rocks,
animal behavior, oceans and electricity.

History:
|
Study of the United States from the colonial
period to 1865.
Study
biographies of important historical figures.

Map Skills:

Study
of globes and maps include longitude and latitude, compass rose, hemispheres
and climate zones.

Spanish:
|
Refine
listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Students study the cultures within the
Spanish-speaking world.

Handwriting:

Development
of cursive handwriting.
|
Music:
|
Study
music through music theory and playing the recorder.
|
Art:
|
Introduce
periods in art history. Using several
mediums, students create works that imitate the various periods.

Physical Education:

Students
participate in group sports such as soccer, basketball and softball. Development of sport-specific skills and
movement are emphasized.

Technology:

Expand
keyboarding skills. Expand Microsoft Word functions and commands. Write a
research paper using Microsoft Word.
